Dosage and Administration

The dosage and administration of Auromedics Ketamine Hydrochloride Injection, USP should be individualized and titrated to the patient’s response. Factors such as age, weight, physical status, and the type and duration of the procedure should be considered.

• Induction of Anesthesia: The usual adult dose is 1 to 2 mg/kg (0.5 to 1 mg/lb) administered intravenously over 60 seconds. The onset of anesthesia occurs within 30 seconds after injection, with a duration of action of approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
• Sedation: The usual adult dose is 0.5 mg/kg (0.25 mg/lb) administered intravenously over 60 seconds. The sedative effect usually occurs within 30 seconds after injection, with a duration of action of approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
• Intensive Care Unit Sedation: The usual adult dose is 0.5 to 1 mg/kg (0.25 to 0.5 mg/lb) administered intravenously over 60 seconds. The duration of action is dose-dependent, with higher doses resulting in longer sedation.

Contraindications

Auromedics Ketamine Hydrochloride Injection, USP is contraindicated in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to ketamine or any of its components.
